Social Care Worker - (Gregory Edward Greenan - Registration Number NI/2061390) Removed from NI Social Care Register

A Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) Conduct Committee, held on 12 and 13 April 2012, decided the case of a registered social care worker, Mr Gregory Edward Greenan (Registration Number NI/2061390). The Committee found that Mr Greenan had committed misconduct and breached the NISCC’s Code of Practice for Social Care Workers. The charges proven against Mr Greenan were that:

  • on 29 May 2010, whilst employed as a Care Assistant by Autism Initiatives, he flicked the penis of Service User A; and
  • on 10 August 2010, whilst employed as a Care Assistant by Autism Initiatives, he touched Service User A in an inappropriate manner

The Committee stated that Mr Greenan’s actions towards Service User A were wholly unacceptable and fell far short of the type of behaviour which can be reasonably expected from a social care professional. The Committee is satisfied that the public must be protected from misconduct of this nature and to remove Mr Greenan’s registration from the NI Social Care Register would service to maintain confidence in social care services generally.
