Membership

Membership of the Registrant’s Committee, both in terms of numbers, breakdown and methods of appointment, will be reviewed after one year and then every following two years to ensure that membership is regularly renewed and reflects as far as possible the diversity of registrants and the respective size of the various parts of the Register.
Currently the Forum is comprised of:

• Four representatives appointed by NIPSA;
• Four representatives appointed by UNISON;
• One representative appointed by BASW;
• One representative of the Student Part of the Register.

CHAIR
Brian Smyth (NIPSA) is currently working in a full time capacity as a NIPSA Representative in the Southern Trust. Brian has worked as a Social Worker in a number of Directorates and has a particular interest in the roll out of registration to other members across the social care workforce.

VICE-CHAIR
Sharon Woods (UNISON) works in the South Eastern Trust as a Social Worker with Adults with a Learning Disability. Her background includes working in Day Care, Residential Care and in the past has been involved in delivering some staff training.

Roberta Magee (UNISON) currently works full time as a Branch Secretary for Unison. She has previously worked as a Homecare Manager for South and East in the Belfast Trust.

Carolyn Ewart (NIASW) is a qualified social worker and is NI manager for the NI Association of Social Workers.

Bernie Dolan (UNISON) is a social worker for the Western Health and Social Care Trust.

Ricky Allen (Student) is a first year social work student at Belfast Metropolitan College.

Geraldine Mullan (NIPSA) works in Kinship Fostering Team in the South Eastern Trust. Previous work experience includes Residential Child Care and Deputy Team Leader in Secure Accommodation.

Sam Murphy (NIPSA) is based in the Western Trust area and has worked in residential child care for 23 years. In recent years he has become more active with NIPSA and is delighted to be appointed as a representative for the Registrants Committee.

Damien Maguire (NIPSA)is a practising Social Worker in the Belfast Health Trust and Joint Branch Secretary of the NIPSA Health Branch in Belfast.
